EMAIL FLOW CHART

1: Determine who is charge (name servers – not 100% but good start)

dig shuttercraft.com ns

;; ANSWER SECTION:

2: Determine mail server

dig shuttercraft.com mx

;; ANSWER SECTION:

shuttercraft.com. 86400 IN MX 10 sentry.cshore.com.

 

3: Possible MX records:

sentry.cshore.com – this is sentry.cshore.com login to determine IMAP/POP server
—Forwards to imail.cshore.com, Plesk1, Plesk2 or private server

mail.domain.com – this is most likely a plesk server – run dig mail.domain.com
—Forwards to Plesk1, Plesk2, Liszt, Brahms or private server (unlikely private server)

imgate1.cshore.com – this is a plesk server – run mail.domain.com
—Forwards imail.cshore.com

mx1.emailsrvr.com – rackspace email

If above NOT is not a response then mail is NOT your problem

4: Login to webmail interface to determine if mailbox is full or problem is on client side.

mail.cshore.com for domains on Imail

webmail.domain.com for domains on Plesk

webmail.emailsrvr.com for domains on Rackspace
